Service Unit Recruiter will market and promote Girl Scouting within local communities by engaging potential youth and adult into the Girl Scout movement to help achieve local service unit goals. This may include (but not limited to) coordination and possible hosting community table, hosting a specific themed event, delivering/hanging of promotional materials.

The Service Unit Recruiter position is appointed for a two-year term. The role requires an average of 30 hours over the course of the term.

As a Service Unit Recruiter, you will gain knowledge, build teamwork and learn new skills. 

Service Unit Recruiter reports to the Service Unit Manager and local engagement  council staff member. He/She receives support, guidance, and encouragement from local service team and council staff. Each recruiter will have to relevant learning opportunities and materials that prepare for and support this role.

Qualifications and core competencies:

Girl focus: Empower girls to choose and adapt activities, learn by doing, cooperate with others, and reflect on what they’ve accomplished (as well as on current issues that involve their interests and needs) while having fun.

Personal integrity: Demonstrate dependability, honesty, and credibility.

Adaptability: Adjust, modify own behavior, and remain flexible and tolerant in response to changing situations and environments.

Oral communication: Express ideas and facts clearly and accurately.

Foster diversity: Understand, respect, and embrace differences.

Computer skills: Access to e-mail and the Internet, plus knowledge of social media.

Additional requirements:

  • Bilingual preferred (if applicable)
  • Must become a registered member of GSUSA
  • Complete required coursework as assigned through gsLearn, Council Staff and GSUSA
