Who We Are
Safe & Warm is a community service organization that provides over 200 healthy meals plus personal hygiene items, socks, hats & gloves to our unhoused neighbors and those being housed in hotels in Auburn and Cayuga County, NY.
We also offer a warm and welcoming drop-in center providing snacks, beverages, and other needed items.
Safe & Warm is a coalition of individuals and organizations who came together in the Fall of 2023 for the purpose of assisting the underserved in our area. We work under the umbrella of The Harriet Tubman Liberation Foundation, Inc.
Safe & Warm is staffed by volunteers from the community and local churches, including First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles, Harriet Tubman Memorial AME Zion Church of Auburn, Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting of Poplar Ridge, St. James’ Episcopal Church of Skaneateles, United Ministries of Aurora, and Westminster Presbyterian Church of Auburn.
What We Do
The Safe & Warm Field Operation, started in January 2024, prepares and serves approximately 200 lunches each week to the homeless who are housed in hotels and motels in Auburn and Cayuga County NY. In addition, we are often able to provide through in-kind donations personal hygiene products, socks, and winter outerwear.
The Safe & Warm Drop-in Center at Westminster Presbyterian Church on William Street in Auburn is open every Friday from 3 pm to 5 pm. We offer a warm, friendly, helpful place where people can find food, drink, a helpful staff of volunteers, and a list of local resources. Personal hygiene products, socks, and winter outerwear are also available.
