uburn Public Theater is looking for an as-needed volunteer to assist with stage crew and production support duties. We’re seeking someone dependable, physically strong, and comfortable helping with hands-on theater work behind the scenes.

Responsibilities may include:
• Moving stage sets and equipment
• Loading in and loading out productions
• Assisting with setup and breakdown for events and performances
• Lifting and carrying materials safely
• General physical support for theater operations

This is a flexible, as-needed volunteer position based around our production schedule. Ideal for someone who enjoys theater, teamwork, and staying active while supporting the arts in our community.

The Bon Ton Roulet is a fully supported Bicycle tour through the Finger Lakes. It will be held July 21 -25, and is a major fundraiser for the Auburn YMCA - WEIU.

SAG Drivers 

Each SAG driver has a 6-hour shift each day, they will "Cruise the route "(use their own vehicle) under the direction of the SAG Director and provide help to tour participants when needed.
Transport riders when necessary, provide basic first aid (kit provided), and travel with a water supply (provided).

After-hours transportation of bicyclists may be necessary in an emergency situation or unusual circumstance.

Volunteers may be asked to perform wine pick-up duties from local wineries ( rider purchases).

Shifts begin at 6 am; the first shift drives the entire long route to check markings and identify construction areas, road closures, or other hazardous road conditions, and then SAGs back to the first rest stop.

Other SAG drivers begin at half-hour intervals, as coordinated by the SAG Director.

For this "job" you will be located in the Geneva ot Union Springs area.

Our Information tent is a central location for tour participants to find the route, service, lodging, meals, and other information related to the tour and the surrounding area.

Help set up the information tent in the afternoon and take it down the following morning.
Staff information tent until the last rider is out.
Become familiar with the site before the riders arrive so you can answer questions effectively.
Place signage as necessary.
Miscellaneous tasks as necessary to help facilitate the tour experience.

Can work either 6-8 am or 1-5pm (or both). -

SCIA is holding a community day on Saturday, May 23, 2026. We are having vendors, a petting zoo, food, etc. Volunteers could assist with serving food, assisting vendors, assisting with set up and clean up. The subtitle of the Community Day event is "Fur, Fun and First Responders." The date coincides with the last day of national EMS Week.

The Auburn Industrial Development Authority (AIDA) is re-establishing its Marketing Committee to help advance our organization’s communication with businesses, developers, and the community more broadly.

Our 2026 Workplan includes a handful of key activities and initiatives focused on crafting consistent messaging, information sharing, and public relations, although there could be some additional marketing related activities that arise throughout the year. Activities could include drafting press releases, letters, or other communications; planning events; creating marketing materials; engaging with community groups; etc.

We ultimately aim to have a committee of 5 to 7 people who are invested in Auburn’s growth and success, including those who live, work, own a business, and/or own property in the City.  Ideally, members of the committee would have some relevant experience in marketing, public relations, content creation, and/or a relevant skill set. That said, we also encourage emerging creatives and leaders looking to hone their skills in a real-world context to reach out!

It is anticipated that the Marketing Committee will meet 3 to 5 times from May to December, 2026 and 4-6 times annually thereafter. Each meeting would be an hour in length. There is also likely to be some light work and correspondence between meetings to help advance initiatives.

CAP's Food Pantry serves on average 667 individual a month. Flexible schedules, stocking pantry shelves with incoming food, unloading food items from truck or boxes, creating and packing food baskets, assisting with mobile food pantry schedules and deliveries

CAP's Volunteer Transportation Program provides transportation to non-emergency medical appointments in Cayuga and Seneca Counties. Drivers will be reimbursed the current federal mileage rate of 72.5 cnets (door-to-door). Flexible schedules and routes. 

CAP's Food Recovery Program help recover and redistribute food to emergency food providers in Cayuga and Seneca Counties. The volunteer would assist the Food Security Coordinator with deliveries to local food pantries, loading, stacking and unloading cases of food in our warehouse, repacking donated foods for delivery and general support for the Food Security Coordinator. 

CAP Closet provides gently used small household items and clothing to Cayuga County residents in need free of charge. The program is run entirely by volunteers who receive and process donations, wash and hang clothes, set up clothes and household items for display, assist customers with clothing and household needs and have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. 

Assist with data entry for various programs, filing, organization may include answering phones

Provide support through the Diaper and Demonstration and Research Pilot Program that provides diapers monthly to low-income families. Duties may include assisting with diaper pick-up from the Diaper Bank of CNY, sorting diapers, packing diapers per individual need, helping distribute diapers and tracking.  

Assist our Domestic Violence Services staff with a variety of duties including organization, putting together shelter, hotel kits or other necessary items for distribution. Special skills also welcome to that can provide impact to those we serve in the program (can discuss further if interested). Depending on the work, may require additional background checks.  

CAP serves up to 300 families through Early Head Start/Head Start. Various opportunities inside and outside the classrooms including the Head Start Backpack Program (provides food on the weekends for families in need). Please call for more information. Ambassador Book Buddies serve as the on-site leaders for the Book Buddy program. They act as the primary liaison between the school/site and United Way staff, ensuring smooth program operations. Ambassadors help manage volunteer check-in, monitor attendance, and support positive, effective reading sessions for students and volunteers. They may assist with volunteer training and recruitment. Must be available to be on site at one of our Auburn Enlarged City School District Elementary schools for 1 hour per week.

The REV Theatre Company is looking for ushers for our 2026 Season at the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse! Shows include A Bronx Tale, Tarzan, Carousel, and Rock of Ages, and dates range from June 3-Oct 3.

Ushers must be at least 16 years of age, be able to physically assist patrons up and down stairs or in and out of wheelchairs or walkers, to lift small to medium size boxes of concession items or programs, and to spend long periods of time standing.

Drop-In Center Volunteers welcome our unhoused neighbors to the Safe & Warm space. They offer a meal, beverage, needed personal hygiene items, and a warm place to sit in fellowship with others. They can also assist with providing information on services and resources in the community. 

Field Team Volunteers meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church then go as a group to local hotels where unhoused individuals and families have been placed. They hand out prepared meals, extra sandwiches, bagels, and personal hygiene items at several locations in Auburn and Cayuga County. 

The United Way of Cayuga County is in need of books for our growing Book Buddies Program.

With our Book Buddies program, 2nd grade students are partnered with vetted community members for the academic school year. During this time our volunteers read with students during their lunch period, utilizing books from the school library, while engaging in meaningful conversations. The mission of our program is to promote a life-long love of reading, exploration and learning through books, and an opportunity for youth mentorship. 

Our program is currently in two elementary schools at Auburn Enlarged City School District, and our goal is to expand to every elementary school in Cayuga County. We currently do not have any funding for our program, so we appreciate any books you may be willing to donate to our program that are appropriate for 2nd grade students.

Urgent Need for Winter Drivers!!! 

When you volunteer to deliver meals for the Cayuga County Office for the Aging Home Delivered Meal Program, you deliver a meal, a greeting and an informal safety check. It makes an important difference to our vulnerable, home-bound older adult neighbors, especially in winter. Volunteer drivers and substitutes are needed for about two hours on a weekday morning. Mileage reimbursement is available for rural routes. Food pick up is in Auburn or Moravia. We have a special need for winter drivers when some of our snow-bird drivers travel south. Natural and human-caused disasters occur every day, reminding us how vulnerable we can be. The American Red Cross takes action every day to serve people affected by disasters, rushing to the aid of a family, a neighborhood or an entire community.

Disaster Action Team (DAT) members respond locally to all disasters whenever they occur day or night. DAT members commit to being on-call and available for defined shifts so that when an emergency occurs either a dispatcher or the Disaster Program Manager can reach them and dispatch them immediately. DAT members meet with family members to determine their immediate, disaster-caused needs.

There is a special need for volunteers to support sheltering efforts during disaster relief operations across the country to help provide immediate compassion and care. Help comfort and support people who are forced from their homes due to fires, storms and other emergencies so they don’t have to face tough times alone.

Hospice volunteers are called “Family Care Givers” because they provide support not only to patients but also to their families, who are often the patient’s primary caregivers.

Hospice Family Care Giver Volunteers may visit patients and families in their homes, at Francis House, and Matthew House, wherever the volunteer feels most comfortable. Length of volunteer visit is approximately 1 – 2 hours. The role of a family care giver volunteer is that of a friendly companion. Family Care Giver Volunteers do NOT provide hands on care. The role of the Hospice Veteran Volunteer is to honor our veteran patients at end of life by delivering/presenting the patient and their families with a Certificate and Pin honoring them for their service. The veteran volunteer will also deliver a packet of helpful information for veterans and their families at end of life. The patient and family are accepting of the Hospice veteran volunteer’s visit and the volunteer is provided with all of the necessary information and training to provide this service.

Auburn Public Theater is seeking a volunteer to assist with our weekly movie screenings on Tuesdays from 12–3 PM and Saturdays from 2–5 PM. Responsibilities include helping with movie setup, greeting guests, concession sales, and providing general support during showtimes. Training will be provided—no prior experience necessary!

Summary of Position: Resident Care Volunteers must have a general understanding and acceptance of comfort care philosophy as they will be responsible for assisting to implement the end-of-life care plan and treatment of residents as established by the Executive Director, Manager of Resident Services and Hospice. They will also assist with providing support to the residents and their families.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Includes the following and any other possible job-related duties requested by supervisor authorized to give instructions or assignments. 

·        Resident Care Volunteers typically cover one 4-hour shift Monday through Sunday, ranging from 7am-11am, 11am-3pm, 3pm-7pm or 7pm-11pm. 

·        Must abide by all Matthew House policies and procedures including all health & safety protocol currently in place.

·        Responsible for taking required time to read and comprehend all resident care plan documentation throughout their assigned shift.

·        Personal care of the residents including bathing, dressing, oral care, and linen changes.

·        Assist with toileting (either incontinence care or bedpan, urinal, commode, transferring to the bathroom, emptying catheter, etc.)

·        Provide nourishment & meal prep according to the resident care plan.

·        Medication administration according to the established care plan (including suppositories, breathing treatments, narcotics & morphine.)

·        Must be able to accurately complete resident care documentation including the medication log sheets and resident blue daily log.

·        Helps to maintain the clean and hazard free environment at Matthew House.

·        Responsible for the completion of all required in-services and training updates.

·        Will welcome and sign-in visitors according to Matthew House protocol.

·        May assist with answering the phone and taking messages as needed.

·         Resident Care Volunteers must complete the lengthy training process which includes hands-on shadowing with experienced staff/volunteers and a caregiving check list completion with either the Executive Director or the Manager of Resident Services to ensure a complete understanding of their role.

Service Unit Recruiter will market and promote Girl Scouting within local communities by engaging potential youth and adult into the Girl Scout movement to help achieve local service unit goals. This may include (but not limited to) coordination and possible hosting community table, hosting a specific themed event, delivering/hanging of promotional materials.

The Service Unit Recruiter position is appointed for a two-year term. The role requires an average of 30 hours over the course of the term.

As a Service Unit Recruiter, you will gain knowledge, build teamwork and learn new skills. 

Service Unit Recruiter reports to the Service Unit Manager and local engagement  council staff member. He/She receives support, guidance, and encouragement from local service team and council staff. Each recruiter will have to relevant learning opportunities and materials that prepare for and support this role.

Troop Co-Leaders work in partnership to provide a caring and safe environment while working directly with girls, helping them develop their leadership skills; have the enthusiasm and ability to generate girls’ interest in the ways they can discover, connect and take action through Girl Scouting.

Upon approval, a Troop Co-Leader is appointed for a one-year term that is renewable upon completion of an evaluation process. The position requires an average amount of 20 hours per month.

As a Troop Co-Leader, you will gain knowledge, build teamwork and learn new skills.

Troop Co-Leaders report to the local Service Unit Manager. The Troop Co-Leader receives support, guidance, and encouragement from the Membership Manager. They have access to relevant learning opportunities and materials that prepare for and support this role.

Light cleaning would include sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing tables, chairs, toys, etc.
